DESCRIPTION: WW - Seiko Professional High-Beat 300M Diver, ref 6159-7001, circa 1969, automatic, 44mm x 50mm to lug tips, 19mm lug width, original stainless front loading monoblock screw bezel case with bi-directional diving bezel, original black rubber strap and steel buckle signed Seiko, original black dial with applied gold indices filled with luminous material, date aperture at 3, 25J cal 6159, s#900153, triple signed. A watch from when Seiko was pushing the boundaries as to what was possible with 1960s technology, this watch represents the ultimate diver for Seiko of that era. Fitted with a 25J, 36,000 bph automatic movement that included a quickset date and water resistance to 300M, which is 100 more than its Rolex counterpart. To most today this may not seem that out of the ordinary so to put this into perspective, Rolex released the 3035, their first men's high beat movement with a quickset, in 1977, and this feature didn't make its way into the Submariner until the early 1980s. The present lot is a true must-have for the vintage dive watch collector or the person who specializes in vintage or high end Seiko.
CONDITION: Mvt: Running, case not opened to inspect mvt cosmetics; nearly flawless dial with hardly any surface spotting; nearly mint hands with very light surface spotting; unpolished case shows very little wear, still retains all of its original factory finishing, several light dings on sides and back; original screw down crown shows little wear, good threads; good glass crystal.
ESTIMATE: $4000 - $7000
